Curriculum vitæ
Being born in England in 1955, I grew up in Liechtenstein, spent five years in monastery in Austria, passed a technical diploma in Germany and the baccelaureat in Austria. I studied art-history at the University of Sorbonne in Paris/France. Wishing to acquire manual competence in relation to works of art, I obtained a diploma for restoration-conservation in Florence/Italy (equivalent of a Master's degree). This education being rather on the conservative side, I decided to have a look on « the other side of the pond » and went for 2 and a half years to the USA and Canada. There I worked at different conservation labs, crowned by an internship at the Canadian Conservation Institute in Ottawa/Canada, the best center for research in conservation in the world. In Ottawa I discovered the latest technologies and newest materials used and tested for conservation. It was for me a totally new approach, far less traumatic for the art object and providing solutions to problems until then almost unsurmountable to resolve with traditional means. The «Charta of Venice» is allways respected.
Back in Europe I founded Art Conservation Service in Paris.
My educational background, my pleasure for travelling and easy contact, with the fact of speaking several European languages, gave me the chance to work for small and big collectors, private as well as public ones, all over the world, often in combination with conferences or teaching. I also made expertises for court cases, customs, police and insurance companies.
